Music-streaming service Spotify is making it a bit easier for its users to find out what their friends are listening to each day.
A new feature, called “Top Tracks in Your Network,” has been rolled out to Spotify apps on Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating systems, the company announced Thursday. The feature adds a new chart to Spotify’s mobile app that lets users find out what songs are most popular among their friends. The chart is updated daily and next to each song is a drop-down list for users to see which friends are listening to the respective tracks.
Spotify, which was founded in 2006, is competing is what is an increasingly crowded streaming-music space that includes competitors Pandora, Beats Music and countless others. The company has over 50 million users worldwide and provides apps on a wide range of devices, including smartphones and computers. Its service includes over 30 million tracks.

While Spotify users can listen to ad-supported streaming music, the company also offers a $10-per-month premium service that nixes the ads and allows users to download tracks for listening offline.
One artist users won’t see in their new Top Tracks in Your Network feature is the wildly popular Taylor Swift. Last month, Swift, whose new album “1989” is dominating the Billboard charts, pulled her music from Spotify. While Spotify urged Swift to come back, she wrote in an op-ed piece earlier this year that streaming was among the reasons artists are unable to make much money on album sales.
Top Tracks in Your Network is available now in Spotify’s Android and iOS apps. The company will add the feature to its desktop service “soon.”
