Scribd , the document sharing and e-book service, is now adding audiobooks to its repertoire. The company announced Thursday that it’s bringing 30,000 audiobooks to its library. And, you can listen to them for free with Scribd’s $9-per-month subscription service, which also include access to its 500,000-strong ebook collection.

That catalog of 30,000 books includes new releases and award-winning books, including “The Hunger Games” trilogy, “No Country for Old Men” by Cormac McCarthy and “The Days of Anna Madrigal” by Armistead Maupin. There are also children’s titles narrated by a few big-name actors, such as Meryl Streep reading”Chrysanthemum” and James Earl Jones reading “Who’s in Rabbit’s House?” Scribd is partnering with media company Findaway World to provide the e-books.
In October 2013, Scribd launched a monthly e-book subscription, where you can rent out as many books as you want, for as long as you want. The biggest downside to the $9 service is that the book catalog is a bit limited, but the company hopes to change that with its new collection of audiobooks. The move also helps Scribd compete with Amazon, which offers e-books and audiobooks for $10 per month with Kindle
Unlimited.
