Netflix could have released two complete trailers for the anticipated next season of its action-filled superhero drama “Daredevil,” but instead it went with a cliffhanger approach. The first trailer focused on vengeful, kill-em-all guest star Punisher, but ended with the enigmatic Elektra appearing at Matt Murdock/Daredevil’s place.
The second part of the trailer dropped Thursday and picks up with more insights into the role of Elektra (played by Élodie Yung) in the new season. She’s praising Daredevil and peddling information on the tough-guy Yakuza gang in Hell’s Kitchen.

Quick refresher: Elektra was an old college flame for Murdock, who’s played by Charlie Cox. She’s known as a mercenary in the comic books who often fights with a two-bladed sai, a type of pointed weapon used in Okinawan martial arts. Marvel refers to her as “an Olympic-level athlete and gymnast.”
“If we do this, nobody dies. Do you understand?” Murdock tells Elektra. Based on the bloody and brooding first half of the trailer, that’s going to be a tall order.
The tagline in the trailer is “No justice without vengeance. No redemption without sacrifice.” Daredevil may try to get his point across without taking lives, but his new buddies don’t have the same kind of scruples he does. It should lead to some intriguing conflict for season 2.
The new season debuts on Netflix on March 18.
