Calling all parents, educators and fans of spooky-scary stuff!

Books trump all other forms of entertainment. You know it, I know it and kids definitely know it. Which is why I’m excited about today’s deal, the Humble Goosebumps Audiobook Bundle. Name your own price and you can score four or more great titles from the classic children’s series.

Humble Bundle

As with previous Humble bundles, there are three available tiers. Pay at least a buck and you’ll get four “Classic Goosebumps” audiobooks. Beat the average (currently $8.50) to add another five books, plus the promise of at least one more.

Finally, you can pony up $15 for the buy-them-all (BTA) tier, which nets you the entire 12-book set — including the aforementioned “more books coming soon” mystery addition.

To put that in some perspective, Humble Bundle tells us that this collection would cost you $239 if you bought each audiobook separately. It’s an insanely good deal.

When my kids were younger, I was always on the lookout for audiobooks we could all enjoy together, especially during long car rides. Humble provides these in DRM-free MP3 format, so you can play them from your phone, burn them to CDs or whatever.

Oh, right, one more bonus: a portion of the proceeds goes to the Every Child a Reader and Worldreader charities. So maybe pay a little more than the bare minimum. Know what I’m saying? There’s also a gift option if you know someone else who would enjoy this.

Hey, Humble folks, can we get a “Percy Jackson” bundle next? I have a 12-year-old here who would seriously appreciate it.

Bonus deal: In the market for a big TV? I’ve seen some 50-inchers for as low as $400, but now that same money buys you even more screen estate. TigerDirect has the Seiki SE58GY27 58-inch LED HDTV for $399.99, plus around $47 for shipping. The catch? That’s after redeeming a $200 mail-in rebate, which I know will be a deal-breaker for some. Also, the TV only has two HDMI ports, which will be a deal-breaker for others. So why am I sharing this at all? Because it’s a 58-inch TV for $400! You don’t have to buy it, but you do have to marvel at it.

Bonus deal 2: Are you an Amazon Prime subscriber? For a limited time, you can get up to three 4-month magazine subscriptions absolutely free. Be sure to read the fine print, though, so you can cancel in time to avoid getting charged. There are some great titles available, including Family Handyman, Popular Science and Wired. But this is for new subscribers only — you can’t tack it onto an existing subscription.
