Right now, your New Tab page in Chrome is probably a Google Search box, eight quick links to frequently visited sites, and a few extra Google links nestled in the top right-hand corner. It gets the job done, but it’s not much to look at.
If you want to add a bit more functionality to your New Tab page, then check out Leoh for Chrome. This extension will let you add a to-do list, custom backgrounds, take notes and much more.
The first time you load a New Tab after installing Leoh, you’ll be greeted with a welcome post that details where the settings and quick links are. Click the Settings cog in the bottom left-hand corner and start adjusting the extension to your liking. There are many options for the background image display, the weather location, the theme for the pop-up windows, and even the ability to hide each icon from the New Tab page.
One of the most useful features of Leoh is that it syncs to your Google account, letting you sign in away from your primary computer, but still keep all of your settings intact. The developer notes that not many of the extensions you find on the Chrome Web Store have decided to use the syncing ability.
If you run into any issues, or want to request a feature, you can interact with the developer on the Leoh subreddit.
