Apple Music has Beats 1 radio, and now Rdio has hundreds of live terrestrial radio stations. Earlier this week, Rdio announced it has added 500 radio stations from its partner, Cumulus Media, which is the second-largest operator of radio stations in the US. You can listen to these radio stations via the Rdio iOS app, Android app, or on the Web. And radio is free on Rdio; it’s not hidden behind either of Rdio’s paid plans. Like Apple Music, however, the offerings are a bit scattered.
Although Rdio trumpets that 500 radio stations are now in its fold, if you go to Stations > Live Radio you’ll find only 22 stations listed. You’ll find other stations littered throughout the other groupings in the Stations section, from Spotlight and Hits to Classic Rock and Country.
If you come up empty browsing for a live radio station, you can search for a station by its name, call letters or frequency. You can also peruse the full list of Cumulus-owned stations offered on Rdio on this Rdio blog post.

When listening to a live radio station, Rdio displays the current track playing along with the 10 most recently played tracks. You can add live radio stations to your favorites list and see other Rdio users that have recently listened to a station and related stations. If you tap on one of the recently played tracks, Rdio starts playing a station based on that song.
