How to toggle Google Now on Tap off and on

Android Marshmallow launched with an enhanced version of the Google Now assistant that can work within almost any app on your device. Dubbed Google Now on Tap, it is supposed to serve as your personal assistant, getting you directions, looking up ratings or answering questions.

During setup of your device, you may have skipped enabling this feature. Alternatively, you may have enabled it and decided you don’t want to use it any longer. In either case, a recent post on AddictiveTips reminds us that there’s a quick way to toggle the feature on and off. Here’s how:

Step 1: Open Google Now by tapping on the multicolored Google icon. If you’re using the Google Now Launcher, then you can just swipe right.

Step 2: Open the left-hand menu and choose Settings, then choose Now cards.

Step 3: Toggle the setting to your liking for Now on Tap.

Turning off this feature will be especially useful to anyone who takes a lot of screenshots, and is comfortable with the old method involving the Home button. Although there is a new method for taking screenshots rolling out that involves Google Now, the delay may cause you to miss what you’re trying to capture on the screen, making this toggle very useful.
