After spending the summer getting a sneak peek of OS X 10.10 Yosemite through the public beta, you may want to leave the beta program. Understandable, as continuing to install beta versions of an operating system where bugs are bound to happen can lessen the user experience.

To withdraw from Apple’s beta program, you’ll need access to the Mac you’ve registered with the program and roughly five minutes.

The first part of the process requires you to launch System Preferences, select the App Store, click on the Change button a select “Do Not Show Pre-Release Updates.”

Once that’s done, you’ll need to visit Apple’s OS X beta website. A screenshot tutorial will walk you through the steps I just outlined above. A button to complete the unenrollment process is located at the bottom of the page. But first, you’ll need to sign in using the same Apple ID used to enroll into the beta program before the button will be present.

Finally, confirm your intention to leave the program.
