How to easily save pictures from texts on Android

When someone sends you an image via text, it’s easy to save it at that moment. But what if you have a long texting history, don’t remember who sent you a particular photo or you just want an app to do the work for you? Well, you’re in luck.

In a recent How To Geek post, an app that could save all of your photos from texts was suggested. While the suggested app does get the job done, there’s another app that has a bit of an edge over it (and less complaints on the Play Store). The alternative is Save MMS attachments, a nearly identically named app, which doesn’t let you name the pictures as you export them, but works faster and without issue. Here’s how you can use it to save your pictures from text messages:

  • Simply install a free (ad-supported) copy of Save MMS attachments on your Android device, open it, and you’ll see all available pictures.
  • Next, tap the Save icon in the bottom-right corner, and all images will be added to your gallery in the Save MMS folder.
  • If you’d like to use a different folder, or want the app save new images twice daily, then you’ll have to spring for the Pro version through an in-app upgrade.

One missing feature here is the ability to discard pictures you don’t want to save, but you can remove them from the gallery later. Overall, this app is really useful when helping a friend or family member switch devices, or if you’re forgetful when it comes to saving images sent to you.
