So you’re earning all kinds of coins in the new Swarm app, huh? Each time you earn a coin or three, you get the pleasure of hearing the slot-machine-like sound of the coins falling from the sky. Earn a mayorship? A celebratory tune is played and everyone within earshot can hear it.
Not everyone is going to enjoy the sounds Swarm now plays, and I can’t blame them. They are a bit annoying, yet they have a rewarding appeal to them.
To disable sound effects within the Swarm app, follow these steps:
- Launch the app, then tap on the profile tab (it’s the icon on the far right).
- Tap on the Settings icon just above your profile pic.

- On iOS, the option to turn off sound effects is near the top of the list. Tap on Sound Effects to switch to off (or back on should you change your mind).

- Android users will need to scroll to the bottom of the settings page in order to find the setting; tapping on it offers the same behavior as the iOS app.
Personally, I’d like the option to leave the mayorship sounds on, while disabling the coin sound. I don’t need to hear the digital currency raining from the sky each time I check in, but mayorships are hard to come by and as such should be celebrated.
