Google adds price tracking for flight tickets

Booking flights online is stressful enough without having to worry about whether the price will go up if you wait until tomorrow.

To remove the mystery and help alleviate some of that anxiety, Google Flight on Monday rolled out an update that includes notifications informing you when a current fare will expire and how much you can expect to save by booking before that happens. If you aren’t in a hurry to book your flight, you can also keep an eye on fare changes for desired flights or routes via email notifications.

The flight-search feature will also now offer tips on finding the lowest price for your specific route, suggesting alternate airports or travel dates. The notification bar may also notify you of expected price increases based on historical data.

The update, which will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks, also aims to improve its mobile experience by letting users track and manage saved flights on their phone.
