Way back in February, Disney unveiled its Movies Anywhere service and iOS app, offering a free digital copy of “The Incredibles” to anyone who created a new account and linked it with their iTunes account.
Today, Disney unveiled Movies Anywhere for the Android crowd, and is offering a free digital copy of “Wreck-It Ralph” to anyone who creates a new account (or signs into an existing one) and links it with their Google Play account.
The service offers over 400 digital titles from Disney, Marvel and Pixar — everything from the “Toy Story” series to new releases like “Malificent.”
Although there’s a dedicated app for perusing the Disney Movies Anywhere library, once you’re linked to your Google Play account, you can stream or download movies directly from the Play Movies app.
That means Roku owners can stream the content as well, thanks to Roku’s recent addition of a Google Play channel (which itself came with a free digital copy of “X-Men”). Serendipitous timing, no?
Disney hasn’t specified how long the free-movie promotion will be in effect, merely that it’s available for “a limited time.” Given that “Wreck-It Ralph” normally sells for $20, I’d make sure to act fast so you don’t miss out.
