Nokia Lumia 520 now available through AT&T’s GoPhone

AT&T subscribers looking for a prepaid, contract-free Windows Phone handset now have a shot at the Lumia 520.

On Monday, the carrier announced that it would begin selling the 520 on Friday, but it beat that by one day. As of Thursday, the phone is listed on AT&T’s Web site as selling for $99.99 with free shipping to your doorstep or in-store pickup.

The Lumia 520 is the first Windows Phone device available through AT&T’s GoPhone. Though GoPhone, AT&T customers can prepay for the phone without being saddled with a long-term commitment. Buyers can choose from among four monthly plans.

The $25 plan requires you to add a separate data package — $5 for 5MB per month. The $40 plan comes with 200MB of data. The $50 plan is Wi-Fi only. And the $60 plan offers 2GB of data per month.

The Lumia 520 runs on AT&T’s 4G network. That’s doesn’t mean LTE but rather HSPA+, which the carrier labels 4G. The phone sports a 4-inch screen with an 800×480-pixel resolution, a 5-megapixel camera, and a 1GHz dual-core processor.

A variant of the Lumia 520 is also available in the U.S. through T-Mobile, which sells it as the Lumia 521.
