HTC could be mere weeks away from unveiling the HTC Edge, along with other quad-core mobiles, according to a report from Digitimes.
The Taiwanese phone maker could be gearing up to show off the new phones at Mobile World Congress, a massive mobile trade show in Barcelona that kicks off on 27 February.
The report cites an analyst from investment firm JPMorgan Chase, who allegedly mentioned phones powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 3 and Qualcomm’s LTE-enabled MSM 8906 processor, while speaking with the Commercial Times.
We’ve seen leaked pictures and specs of the Edge (pictured above), which is reported to run on the aforementioned quad-core Tegra 3 chip, leading us to believe we’ll be seeing that particular mobile making an appearance at the end of next month.
Apart from a monstrous four 1.5GHz cores, the Edge is expected to pack a 720p display and an 8-megapixel camera. The screen is reckoned to be 4.7 inches on the diagonal. The Edge could be renamed to the HTC Supreme, with HTC having put that name up for protection in Europe.
We’re keen to learn what the other mobile (or mobiles) using the Qualcomm chip turn out to be, though at this point we’re trying not to get our hopes up — preparing ourselves for the possibility that they’ll be consigned to the US only, leaving us Brits out in the cold.
Nothing is certain right now, but fingers crossed the Edge at least makes it to the UK. We were harbouring hopes of seeing it at next week’s CES trade show in Las Vegas, but now it looks like we’ll have to wait an extra month.
