How to watch Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit keynote online

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor has long been a staple in modern Android phones (plus recently expanding again to Windows PCs). After announcing its next generation of chips on Tuesday, today we get to find out what exactly will be changing in the new Snapdragon 865 and 765.

In addition to making the processors, Qualcomm is responsible for making most of the modems that connect phones, tablets and computers to cellular networks. However, only the cheaper 765 will have an integrated 5G modem so it’ll be interesting to see what improvements Qualcomm is planning for the 865 and how it will perform with a separate modem and processor.

Integrating a phone’s brains with the modem often leads to better battery life and a lower cost, and many industry watchers had expected Qualcomm to continue this approach with the high-end 8 series and integrate the two.

The Snapdragon 865, which should also boost impressive imaging enhancements allowing for 200-megapixel lenses on phones, is expected to be the processor used by rumored 2020 flagship phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S11 and OnePlus 8.

With 5G finally starting to take off and new chips expected next year to handle all the different 5G flavors, 2020 should be a big year for speedier devices. Here’s how you can follow along with the latest from Maui.

What time is the event?

The keynote will start at 9 a.m. local time, which is 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. UK) on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

How can I watch live?

Qualcomm will have a livestream of the event on YouTube, which is embedded below.

Are there other events scheduled?

Qualcomm will have one more press event on Thursday, though it is unclear what will be announced then.
