The new Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 claims to be “the world’s fastest 7-inch Android tablet” — and it’s put its money where its mouth is, knocking £50 off the price to a very decent £129.
When first revealed, the Tegra Note was an already-respectable £180, but the folks behind it seem to think in these times of austerity even that’s not wallet-friendly enough. It’s on sale at Currys, and if you’re quick you can take advantage of an offer to knock a further 10 per cent off, taking the price to £116.99.
The Vega Note is built by Advent to show off the power of the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, rocking a quad-core Cortex A15 CPU and a fifth low-intensity core that takes care of basic everyday tasks to save on battery life. Also on board is a 72-core Geforce GPU.
We put the Tegra Note through its paces in our full review, and our fearless tablet reviewer Andy was indeed impressed by the slate’s speed and power. We also liked the Directstylus pen for drawing and writing on the screen, similar to the S Pen that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note.
One downside of the Tegra Note 7 is that the 7-inch screen has a 1,280×800 resolution touchscreen, which sadly falls short of high definition and isn’t as vibrant as rivals. If you want a really good 7-inch screen at a decent price, the Google Nexus 7 is also pretty affordable.
