Amazon wants to have a hand in helping you get things repaired or assembled around your home.

Amazon Home Services launched Monday with over 2 million unique service offerings across 700 professional service types, the e-commerce giant said. The new services offering is made up of selected, invite-only professionals who provide a range of handyman services, including plumbing, TV wall mounting and grill assembly, along with more personal initiatives like music lessons.

For Amazon, the time seemed right for a service offering. The company says that 85 million of its US customers are shopping for products that need professional services.

The new undertaking puts Amazon in competition with business referral and rating services such as Angie’s List and Yelp.

Amazon Home Services is launching across the US, but the availability of services is heftiest in major metro areas including New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. All of the service providers are required to maintain insurance, and if the job is not done right, Amazon said that it will work with customers and the service providers to address the problem. All pricing will be known upfront, and Home Services will include verified reviews, so users can hear from other customers on their experience with a chosen provider.

The new Amazon offering is available now. Service offerings will vary depending on your city.

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
