How to get the Gmail to Evernote feature back

If you were using the email feature on your Evernote account and suddenly noticed that it isn’t working anymore, you’re not alone. The company sent out an email back in July that detailed how you would no longer be able to send more than five email messages to your account — unless you upgrade to a premium subscription.

Thankfully, the Digital Inspiration blog shared a workaround they created that will allow you to regain access to the feature. This workaround uses the automation service If This Then That (IFTTT). Here’s how:

  • Start by logging into IFTTT. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up for free.
  • After you’re logged in, you’ll need to connect the Gmail and Evernote channels to your account.

  • Now you’ll need to add the Mail to Evernote recipe to your account. You can adjust the hashtag you’ll need to provide in the subject line, the notebook that email will be placed in, and the tags applied in the Advanced settings for the recipe (gray link at bottom of recipe page).

Ready to try it out? Send or forward an email to [email protected] with #Evernote (or your chosen hashtag) in the subject line and it will appear in your account inside the notebook titled Email notes (or your chosen name for the notebook).

Now you can use the email feature on your free account whenever you like.
