Instagram is a great place to share photos and short videos with friends, family, and whomever else stumbles upon your stream. If you’d also like to share your favorite music, then you’ll want to check out the Sounds app. With Sounds you can look up an artist or band and share a clip from a track on your stream. Here’s how:
Grab a copy of the Sounds app for your Android device, then start by searching for your favorite track.
Tap the Instagram or Share button below the album artwork. Other services you can share to include Facebook, Messenger, Twitter, and Snapchat. However, since the video is being created and saved on your device, you could essentially share it on any app that supports video outside of the Sounds interface.
A new video clip will be created, and you’ll receive a notification for it. After tapping on the notification, you’ll be greeted with the Instagram video editing interface. You can use any of the available Instagram tools before sharing the video.
If you’d like to edit where a clip begins and ends before sharing, or use your own photos instead of album artwork, you’ll need to tap on the Share button to the right of the Instagram icon. In order to add music to your own video (or remove the watermark), you’ll need to pay for the upgrade or invite five friends to use the app.
According to the Google Play store entry for Sounds, it has deals with SoundCloud and Spotify, meaning you should be able to find most tracks. It also offers daily music recommendations (clips), or if you have a Spotify premium account, you can connect it to listen to full tracks.
