Perform a Facebook Security Checkup from the Android app

Back in July, Facebook announced a simplified way to manage your account’s security settings on the Web. Now this feature is making its way to mobile devices.

According to the company, “… most people connecting to Facebook on a mobile device are using Android,” so this feature is being rolled out to Android users first.

Ready to check your account security? The location of the Security Checkup is a bit hidden within the Facebook app settings (for now). Here’s where you can find it:

Step 1: Tap the hamburger menu (3 lines) along the top, and head to the Help Center. It’s easiest to find by scrolling all the way to the bottom of the list.

Step 2: Search for “Security Checkup” in the “Ask a question” field at the top.

Step 3: Tap the first result, titled “What’s Security Checkup and how do I start it?”

You’ll be greeted with an explanation of the feature, and a button to Start Security Checkup.

The Security Checkup is divided into three parts:

  • Log Out of Unused Apps
  • Get Login Alerts
  • Protect Your Password

After viewing and adjusting the third section, Facebook will let you know the checkup is finished, and offer a link to the Security Settings.

Facebook noted on their blog that an iOS version is also in the works.
