Here’s something you don’t hear often: Apple’s year-over-year iPad sales may have dipped during the first three months of 2014, according to analysts.
A bevy of analysts chimed in on iPad sales expectations in the first quarter, and they collectively peg Apple’s sales at 19.3 million units, representing a 0.7 percent decline compared with the same period last year. The data comes from Fortune, which compiled all the analyst estimates and broke them out between professionals and amateurs. The pros averaged out to 19.4 million iPad units sold last quarter, while the amateurs arrived at 19.2 million units.
Apple’s iPad is still one of the most popular devices in the company’s product line and selling 19.3 million units during the first quarter of 2014 is not something to scoff at. Apple has, however, been able to keep its sales growing steadily over the years, and in the first quarter of 2013, for example, posted year-over-year growth of 55 percent.
For its part, Apple hasn’t said how many iPad sales it generated last quarter. The company will make that data public on April 23 when it announces its fiscal second quarter (calendar first quarter) financials. As always, CNET will be there to cover every last detail.
