Google’s new Nexus 6 phone has made a subtle appearance on AT&T’s website as of Tuesday night.
The new phone, which rumored to be unveiled today, doesn’t have its own dedicated page just yet. But check out the page for the LG G3 Vigor, scroll down, and look at the section called People Also Viewed. At the top of that section is a listing for the Nexus 6.
Clicking on the link for the Nexus 6 brings you to a page listing Motorola phones sold by AT&T, which makes sense since Motorola developed the new Nexus phone for Google. The page itself doesn’t yet list the Nexus 6. The image shown as part of the link isn’t the Nexus 6, and the $49.99 contract price may or may not be the actual consumer cost, especially if the listing itself is partly set up as a placeholder for now.
But the link and the listing still serve as an indication that AT&T will carry the Nexus 6. News that AT&T will sell the Nexus 6 directly is an interesting twist. The carrier did not sell the Nexus 5 even though the device is compatible with its network. Google sells its Nexus devices through the Google Play store at full retail price, though they’re also available through various carriers with the standard contracts.
Reports from Forbes and other sources say that Google will unveil its new Nexus 6 phone and Nexus 9 tablet sometime today. Described in style as a larger version of the Moto X, the Nexus 6 will reportedly offer a 5.9-inch display with a resolution of 2,560×1,440 pixels. A 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization will grace the rear, while a 2-megapixel shooter will appear in the front.
