Deals of the day: Cheap TVs

If you splurged out on a smashing great big TV set before Christmas, only to fall into a deep, turkey- fuelled sleep in front of it, you’ll be kicking yourself. Now it’s the day after Boxing Day and prices are dropping faster than the nation’s eyelids during the Queen’s speech — here are five great deals on high-definition TVs.

1. LG 32LT75, £484 from PixmaniaThis set from LG stands out from the crowd because it’s got a built-in Freeview PVR that can store around 80 hours of TV. It also boasts great picture quality and a really handsome design. You’ll find this one hard to resist now Pixmania has knocked around £50 off the usual asking price. Here’s our full review.

2. Sony Bravia KDL-46W2000, £1,305 from BT Shop If you’re after a mammoth screen that still offers pin-sharp pictures then the 46-inch KDL-46W2000 will do the trick, thanks to its native 1080p resolution and Bravia picture engine. John Lewis currently sells it for around £1,650, but you can slice nearly £350 off that price by getting it from the BT online shop instead. We reviewed its 40-inch sibling here.

3. Panasonic Viera TH-42PX70 with pedestal stand, £700 from Dixons The TH-42PX70 usually costs around £900 with its pedestal stand included, but Dixons is offering it online for around £120 less. This set really impressed us with its superb picture quality when we looked at it earlier in the year, so at this price it’s a seriously attractive option for those looking for a 42-incher.

4. Philips 37PFL5522, £650 from John Lewis This slick 37-inch set from Philips includes the company’s impressive Pixel Plus HD technology, which gives extra sharpness and detail to standard-definition pictures. John Lewis is offering this as an online-only deal for £649 while stocks last, but unlike a lot of these types of deals, the price includes free delivery and an impressively long five-year guarantee.

5. Sharp LC32AD5E, £387 from PRC Direct If you’re looking for a budget 32-incher to do away with those post-Christmas blues, you could do a lot worse than this good-looking 720p set from Sharp, which includes a Freeview tuner. PRC Direct has it for just under £390, a saving of £120 on its original retail price.
