A new blower from ZTE is on the way, according to the tipsters over at evleaks. The Twitter account has posted a picture of the ZTE Grand X Pro, though sadly it’s pretty light on details.
What we do know is that if the name is correct, it’ll be the follow-up to the ZTE Grand X, which the company launched this summer just gone. That was a 4.3-inch dual-core Android smart phone that didn’t break the bank, so I think it’s safe to say we can expect more of the same.
The X Pro looks bigger than its predecessor’s 4.3 inches, and considering large phones are very much in vogue, I’d expect it to be nearer the 5-inch mark. Seeing as it’s added ‘Pro’ to the end of its name, I’d expect the specs to have been given a bit of a boost, too.
The Grand X had a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia processor inside. This was beefed up to an Intel Atom for the Grand X IN, which launched a month after its predecessor. 1GHz is old hat in mobile terms nowadays, so I think we’ll be looking at around 1.5GHz, and it could potentially be quad-core. That’s what ‘Pro’ suggests to me, anyway. Apologies for the speculation, but there’s nothing much concrete to go with at this stage.
The Grand X and Grand X IN were cheap as chips, so let’s hope the Grand X Pro is as well. Mind you, it’ll have to go some way to beat the Nexus 4 for value, seeing as that handset costs just £240 from Google Play. If the Grand X Pro can provide big phone thrills for a low, low price, then we could have a bargain bin fight on our hands.
