Zombie Crisis 3D is a rail shooter that gives users the pleasure of destroying zombies without the hassle of having to control the character’s movement. This particular version of the popular zombie-themed games that populate Apple’s App Store relies on a predetermined course through a multitude of levels to help players escape the zombie attack.
The loose storyline is fairly typical of most zombie games–escape. The plethora of creepy characters attacking you don’t really stand out as particularly ground-breaking from a design standpoint, but certainly trump many attempts of competitors on the iOS platform.
Overall the game lacks a certain luster found in other titles. The levels carry a heaviness and darkness that can be tough to see in even a moderate amount of light and the character animations are gruesome but not particularly memorable. It’s a 3D blood bath though, and that should get plenty of gamers excited.
The rail shooter concept lends itself well to players that aren’t interested in the intricacies of many other FPS-style games that rely on user-controlled joysticks to navigate levels. The game play in Zombie Crisis 3D only requires the ability to accurately tap a zombie in a timely fashion to complete.
For all you brains-gobbling zombie killers, Zombie Crisis 3D would probably be worth the recently reduced price of $1.99, if only for its ease of play. The developers seem to be adding features such as weapons and difficulty settings at a fairly steady clip which may make the investment pay off down the road.
