Here’s the quick rundown of specs:

  • 1,920×1080-pixel screen
  • IP68 water resistance

  • 23-megapixel rear camera, 13-megapixel front-facing camera

If you’re after the Xperia XZ, you can buy it from Sony directly, Telstra or JB Hi-Fi come October 20. If you want to get things moving a little sooner, you can preorder from Telstra — the exclusive telco partner for the Xperia– as of October 11.

No matter where you pick it up from, the Xperia XZ retails for AU$999 outright, available in Mineral Black through Telstra and JB Hi-Fi, and in Forest Blue and Mineral Black direct from Sony.

Coming in a little lower than the AU$1000-plus end of the flagship phone market means that Sony is putting in a little extra work to win over the top end of the midrange. If you pick it up from Telstra between now and December 25, you’ll go into the running to win one of 100 PS4 1TB consoles, or if you pick it up from Sony direct, you can snag an AU$80 pair of Sony Digital Noise Cancelling headphones.
