One and two and three and lift and one and — oh hello, didn’t see you come in there.
Microsoft has announced Xbox Fitness to help gamers shed the pounds, without costing any.
Xbox Fitness is a library of videos in which unnecessarily skinny people bark at you to leap around your living room in the quest for that bikini body. As you work out, the motion-sensing Kinect sensor reads your heart rate, records the power, force and transfer of weight in your body, and measures your balance, tempo and form to make sure you’re getting the most out of your workout.
Microsoft has tapped up a selection of ‘famous fitness trainers’ including Jillian Michaels, Tracy Anderson, Eachbody’s P90X’s Tony Horton, and Insanity’s Shaun T– all of whom are, in the world of people prancing around in neon leotards, kind of a big deal. So I’m told.
The videos are available for free to anyone with an Xbox Live Gold membership up until the end of 2014. If you’re the competitive type, you can track your progress and go head-to-head with friends and family.
If all that sounds too much like hard work, I’m sure there’s a way round it. Hit play to watch our guide to cheating at fitness games like Wii Fit, if you can muster the energy:
You can already order some Xbox One games, which will cost around £55. The console goes on sale on 22 November, a month after the rival PS4 release date.
