I have high blood pressure. As a result I’ve used a bunch of cuffs, and the previous Withings cuff was small, comfortable, and worked nearly as well as a larger Omron unit I have. In the realm of wearable health tech, there’s still no smaller or more efficient solution than using an inflating cuff you wear around your arm.
Withings has made a key useful update to its previously iOS-only monitor, which I used to connect via a Lightning-to-30-pin adapter to in order to use: the newest Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor doesn’t need any cable at all, instead using Bluetooth 4.0 to sync its data. And it finally supports Android, too. It syncs with the Withings Health Mate app, the same hub that its scales and pedometers link to. Assuming the new one is like the old one in terms of set-up, it’s pretty easy to use.
The Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor is $129.95, and at the moment it’s being sold directly via Withings now that it has FDA approval in the US.
