You don’t have to be off your trolley to take home a cheap tablet. The Tesco Hudl, officially confirmed today, is an affordable 7-inch tablet that you can pop in your trolley on your next big shop — and it’s out next week.
The Hudl (pronounced ‘huddle’) costs £119, or less if you have lots of Tesco Clubcard points. In your shopping basket you get a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, front and rear cameras, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB of memory and 9 hours of battery life.
There are a couple of wonky wheels to look out for, though. There’s no 3G or 4G version, so you’ll need to look for Wi-Fi or tether with your phone when you’re out and about. And it’s powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, not quite the latest version of Android.
The Hudl could cost less than £100 if you’re a loyal Tesco shopper, thanks to Clubcard Boost. Boost, formerly known as the Exchange and Rewards system of swapping points for vouchers, is a reward-scheme-within-a-reward-scheme that can double the value of your Clubcard points.
It comes in red, blue, black and purple and goes on sale on 30 September, a week from today. We’ve taken a look at the Hudl at the official launch event, and we’ll let you know what we think.
