U.S. Cellular shakes up prices for shared data plans

Following the lead of some of its competitors, U.S. Cellular, in keeping pace with competition, has lowered the price for fair amount of its Shared Connect plans.

Effective immediately, U.S. Cellular has new pricing for its 1, 3, 6, 8, and 20GB shared data offerings. As part of the shakeup, subscribers can now receive 3GB of data for the same cost as the 2GB plan.

It’s worth noting that the rate plans do not include the price of phones or any access fees. To that end, U.S. Cellular is offering a $30 discount for monthly connection charges for Shared Connect plans installment pricing and 8GB data plan or more. In essence, a family of four could share 8GB for $120 per month.

In addition to the new rate plans, U.S. Cellular will pay early termination fees for customers who break their contract with other providers. Those who port their number from another carrier, sign up for a Shared Connect plan, and choose the equipment installment option can receive up to $350 back in the form of a prepaid debit card.
