Telstra today added two new Android smartphones to its line: HTC’s Sensation, and the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, filling out an impressive trio of new Android releases for the month of July.
Both phones are available on Telstra’s Freedom Connect contract plans, with the Neo free on an AU$59 plan, and the Sensation $0 on an AU$79 contract over two years. Telstra also shared outright pricing for the Sensation, which will be available unlocked for AU$792. The Sensation is available from 12 July, while the Neo will arrive later in the month on 26 July.
The Sensation and the Xperia Neo will join the Samsung Galaxy S II in a big month for Android smartphone releases on the Next G network. The Sensation and the Galaxy S II are the flagship models for both HTC and Samsung, both sporting dual-core processors, large 4.3-inch displays and the latest version of the Android operating system. The Xperia Neo joins the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and the Xperia Play in the Australian market, bringing the same hardware configuration that we saw in the Arc to a different audience in a different form factor.
The Sensation, the Xperia Neo and the Galaxy S II will be among the first handsets to support Telstra’s new HD Voice technology. This new service will cost no more to use, and should provide clearer-sounding voice calls by doubling the range of voice frequencies transmitted compared with a traditional voice call.
