The app will be downloadable via the Pebble App Store, and the launch follows a similar move by Telstra last year which saw the AFL Live app launch on Google Glass. According to Telstra, the Pebble launch is a “world first for a major sport”

AFL Live for Pebble, which will be downloadable from the Pebble App Store and work with both iOS and Android smartphones, allows Pebble owners to view real-time AFL Live scores and updates directly from their Pebble smartwatch.

Speaking about the app was Telstra’s director of digital media and content, Adam Good.

“We’re always looking for new ways to bring fans closer to the game,” said Good. “The AFL Live App for Pebble gives footy fans immediate access to their team’s progress simply by viewing their Pebble smartwatch.

“It’s a cool and handy way to keep up with your team without having to pull out your phone all the time.”

The app, which will work with both iOS and Android smartphones, is in the final stages of development according to Telstra, and is due to be available for download next week.
