Three new Walkman MP3 players from Sony — the NWZ-W252, NWZ-A845 and NWZ-B150 range — offer waterproof fun, iPlayer high-jinks and all manner of musical tomfoolery.
The NWZ-W252, pictured above, holds 2GB of music and runs for up to 11 hours. It’s water-resistant, designed for the gym, and even the shower afterwards (where do you put it?). It comes in gloss white and black, with a supplied charging stand that doubles as a USB dock. It’ll drop in late May.
The NWZ-A845 is a slimline player with a 71mm (2.8-inch) OLED screen and 16GB memory. The battery will keep pumping out tunes for up to 29 hours, or 9 hours of video. It includes S-Master Digital Amplifier technology and comes with digital noise-cancelling in-ear headphones. It also supports downloads from BBC iPlayer, so you can save Doctor Who and watch it on the train.
Each of the Walkmans allows you to load them by simply dragging and dropping files into the supplied Content Transfer software. You can drag files from iTunes 9.0.
The NWZ-B150 series offer up to 18 hours of battery life, with a 3-minute fast charge giving enough juice for 90 minutes of listening. The B152 offers 2GB of memory, and the B153 holds 4GB. Both include a three-line LCD display, a bass-boosting button and a built-in voice recorder. They’re available in black, blue, pink and red from early June.
