Sony’s long-rumored flagship smartphone, codenamed “Honami,” could be capable of shooting 4K video, according to a recently leaked presentation slide.
A user on China-based social-networking site Weibo on Thursday published a photo claiming to show a presentation detailing Sony’s upcoming handset. The slide shows a Sony handset and says that it’ll be capable of recording 4K videos.
Rumors have been swirling around Sony’s plans for a new flagship handset. Earlier rumors have suggested that the device will come with a 5-inch HD display, and sport the new Snapdragon 800 processor that has the capability to record video in 4K resolution. There’s also been talk of the device featuring a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera that would ostensibly be used to shoot the video.

Still, the authenticity of the slide has not been verified, so it’s possible it’s all wrong. One oddity from the slide: it claims that the handset will support 4,000 x 2,000 resolution. Sony has said that its 4K televisions will actually have a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution.
So, will the Honami handset actually come with 4K video recording? It’s certainly possible, but at this point, take everything you hear about the device with a grain of salt. Sony is keeping its plans close to the vest.
