Sony Ericsson Xperia X10: Rachel no more

Today we’ll be sidling up and introducing ourselves to the Sony Ericsson Rachel — or is it the Sony Ericsson Rachael? Either way, we hope to have well-conditioned hair flipped in our faces by Sony Ericsson’s first phone powered by the Google Android operating system.

We’ve shown you the Rachel’s groovy customised user interface, and we’re also expecting to see a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a sexy chassis that puts the Rachel in the same league as that other Android Snapdragon phone, the Acer Liquid.

The Rachel will join the Xperia X2 in Sony Ericsson’s business-oriented Xperia line. It looks likely to sport a large 102mm
(4-inch) touchscreen display, possibly an 8-megapixel camera with
autofocus and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Keep it Crave for more details, exclusive photos, and a hands-on from the launch event later today.

In the meantime, ogle the graceful curves of a model purporting to be the Rachel in this teaser video from a Sony Ericsson maybe-Rachel microsite:

Update: Sony Ericsson has changed Rachel’s name to Xperia X10, which isn’t nearly as pretty. Shame. More later!
