Today, Sony Ericsson introduced its latest Android Walkman phone, the Sony Ericsson Live. Expected to ship in select global markets in Q4, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread device features a deep integration of music and social networks, so you can share and discover new content right from your phone.
This includes a dedicated Walkman button that takes you straight to the music player where users can access their Facebook account to share music with friends. Discovering new music is also made easy with several tools.
First, there’s the Media Discovery app that offers Facebook recommendations from friends, as well as a TrackID app that can identify songs from the FM radio and music player. Second, the player offers something called the Infinite button that provides instant access to additional content from an artist, such as music videos and lyrics. Finally, the phone can tap into the Qriocity music and video service from Sony to check out songs and movies from major labels and studios. The Sony Ericsson Live also incorporates Sony’s xLoud technology for enhanced audio through the phone’s speakers.
Music capabilities aside, the Live looks to be more of an entry-level device in comparison to today’s smartphones. It has a 3.2-inch, 480×320-pixel touch screen, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture, a front-facing VGA camera, and a 1GHz processor.
U.S. availability and pricing information were not announced at this time.
