Sony Ericsson adds two new feature phones

Sony Ericsson took to Facebook today to announce two new feature phones, the Mix Walkman and Txt pro.

Features phones, if you remember, have become a new class of handsets that aren’t quite smartphones, but aren’t basic models, either. Indeed, the Mix Walkman and Txt Pro fit right into this category. They do much more than make calls even if they lack the fanciest features available on a mobile device. The handsets also run Sony Ericsson’s OS (so no Android here, folks), but they offer elements of the Xperia Mini’s interface including the touch controls resting in each corner of the display.

The Mix Walkman centers on music, naturally. Beyond the media player you’ll find the usual Walkman features including song ID, stereo Bluetooth, music ringtones, and the company’s PlayNow track download service. Other features include messaging and e-mail, an FM radio, a 3.5mm headset jack, USB syncing and mass storage, 100MB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3-inch capacitive touch-screen and a microSD card slot. The candy bar handset comes in black, with a choice of colored bands that circle the outside.

The Txt Pro has a slide-out keyboard for your messaging needs. The feature set is similar to the Mix Walkman with Wi-Fi, a media player, stereo Bluetooth, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a MicroSD card slot, a personal organizer, integrated Facebook and Twitter apps, PC modem support, and a 3-inch capacitive touch screen. The handset comes in black, white, and pink.

Both models will be available in select markets in the third quarter of this year.
