Delivery of the Samsung Galaxy S III might be delayed due to “overwhelming demand and limited supply,” Sprint warned today.
The carrier said in a note on its community Web site that it was “optimistic” that it would be able to deliver the 16 GB version of the new smartphone to everyone who ordered them in time for its Thursday launch date. “There is a chance, however, that we may be a day or two late.”
Sprint customers can check of the status of their orders by visiting www.sprint.com/myorder.
It also said it expects to ship all 32GB Samsung Galaxy S III preorders next week.
An Apple attempt to ban sales of the new smartphone was tabled last week when a U.S. District Court judge ruled that Apple could not argue its case for a ban at a hearing Thursday because there were already too many issues to consider at the hearing. U.S. District Court judge Lucy Koh also reported that Apple and Samsung had filed a proposal requesting they engage in “additional discovery and briefing regarding the Samsung Galaxy S III at some later, unspecified time.”
