Samsung’s latest Galaxy S5 Mini should come as no surprise to its fans. The company has previously made a smaller version of its flagship phone, and the new 4.5-inch S5 Mini is no exception.
Sporting a similar design to the S5 , the S5 Mini comes with the same perforated pattern on the rear cover and has IP67 certification, making it water- and dust-resistant. Other similar features include a fingerprint scanner, a heart-rate monitor and inter-operability with Samsung’s wearable devices like the Gear Fit .
The phone’s Super AMOLED display has a resolution of 1,280×720-pixels, which isn’t quite as high as the flagship phone, but if you do the math, that’s actually 326 pixels per inch, which is as good as the display on Apple’s iPhones.
Other specs include LTE connectivity, a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front shooter. The phone will only have 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, but there’s microSD card support should you need more space. It will be powered by a 2,100mAh battery.
The phone is set to launch in Russia in early July, and will be available globally soon. Pricing was not revealed, but you can expect it to be similar in price to the Galaxy S4 Mini , which was around the $400 or £250 mark (which converts to around AU$420).
