Samsung shows off the Galaxy Core LTE, complete with 4.5

Samsung has a new smartphone hitting store shelves later this year.

The mobile device maker on Tuesday announced the Galaxy Core LTE, a handset that it says, will be made available to the UK in the second quarter of the year. Samsung didn’t say if it will be available elsewhere around the world at some point in the future.

The Galaxy Core LTE comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and support for near-field communication with its S Beam platform. The device’s screen is a 4.5-inch qHD offering, and the handset will run Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) at launch. The rear-facing camera features 5 megapixels, while the front offering is a VGA camera.

The Galaxy Core LTE is a warmup for what is anticipated to be a big end of the month for Samsung. The company will be unveiling its Galaxy S5 at a special event next week, and will be on hand at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to show off its latest wares.
