Samsung says Galaxy S4 battery woes ‘limited’, offers free batteries

Is your Galaxy S4 losing charge like a decelerating rhino? Fear not, smart phone fans, as Samsung has offered to swap your dodgy battery for a shiny new one.

The scheme comes following a report from German site MobiFlip, which claims that the S4 is stricken with faulty, swollen batteries. Samsung has responded, saying that the issue is ‘limited’, and offering to swap your S4’s battery for a new one.

“We are aware of this issue,” Samsung said in a statement, “Which has affected a limited number of customers.

“We ask all affected customers to please visit their nearest Samsung Electronics service centre,” the South Korean tech giant continues, “where they can receive a replacement battery for free of charge.

“We remain committed to providing the best possible user experience for our customers.”

I’ve not been flooded with reports of broken Galaxy S4 batteries, but that doesn’t mean that owners aren’t simply suffering in silence. If you’ve experienced unexpected trouble with your S4 battery, pop a note in the comments, and if you’re having charge woes, you can find your nearest service centre here.

The Galaxy S4 is Samsung’s pride and joy, and currently stands right at the top of the company’s smart phone stack, close to other heavyweights like the enormous Galaxy Note 3.

Are you a Galaxy S4 fan? What do you like or loathe about Samsung’s 5-inch behemoth? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
