Samsung said to unveil Galaxy Pro tablets in early 2014

Samsung may be targeting a new lineup of Galaxy Pro tablets for the first quarter of 2014.

Based on a tidbit from an unnamed insider, SamMobile said on Friday that Samsung is prepping three Pro tablets as well as a lite version of the Galaxy Tab 3. The pro lineup would include the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.

All three tablets will be available in Wi-Fi and LTE variations and offer a color choice of black or white, said SamMobile. The 8.4 and 10.1 editions will come with 16GB of internal storage, while their bigger 12.2-inch brother would be packed with 32GB of space.

The 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 Lite will only offer 3G access due to its cheaper price tag, around 100 euros ($136), said SamMobile.

The Tab 3 will be the first to surface, arriving during the second week of January, according to SamMobile’s source. The 8.4 and 12.2 versions will reach consumers around the second week of February, followed by the 10.1 model the following week. Though the release dates may change slightly, all four tablets should hit the market before March, said SamMobile.

Reports appeared this past summer that Samsung was readying a 12.2-inch tablet with a 2,560×1,600-pixel display and an S-Pen stylus. A report in October from benchmarking specialist AnTuTu said that the tablet could be powered by a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and offer 3GB of RAM.
