Samsung Omnia 7 available for pre

The Samsung Omnia 7, one of several Windows Phone 7 handsets that are expected to launch on 21 October, is now available for pre-order from T-Mobile.

There are a variety of T-Mobile deals, and the handset will also be available from Orange and 3. You can sign up for 18- or 24-month contracts, with tariffs ranging from £10 to £40 on T-Mobile’s website, depending on how much you’re willing to pay up front for the phone.

If you want to get the Samsung Omnia 7 for free, you’ll have to sign up for a £35-per-month, two-year contract. T-Mobile will also throw in 900 minutes, 500 texts and ‘unlimited’ Internet data.

The Omnia 7 is Samsung’s first Windows Phone 7 handset. Like the company’s other Android marvel, the Samsung Galaxy S, it boasts a large, 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. It also packs a 1GHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera, capable of shooting 720p video.

If you’re looking for particularly good call quality, it may be worth getting the phone on the Orange network. The network’s PR manager tweeted today that the Omnia 7 will be able to use HD Voice.

Windows Phone 7 is an unproven operating system and time will tell whether it sinks or swims. In terms of hardware, though, the Omnia 7 and other Windows Phone 7 mobiles don’t stray far from the smart-phone blueprint, with specs we’ve seen plenty of times before at the pricier end of the market. Other handsets that will be available at the launch of the operating system include the HTC 7 Mozart, HTC 7 Trophy, HTC HD7 and LG Optimus 7.

We’ll be reviewing all of the Windows Phone 7 handsets as soon as we get our grubby mitts on them, so stay tuned.
