The wait is finally over! The Samsung Galaxy S5 has been officially unveiled — but when will we plucky Brits (and assorted welcome guests from far-flung lands who make their home in our proud island nation) get our hands on the new Samsung flagship?
The answer is… April. The S5 is being officially announced by Samsung right now — check out our up-to-the-minute-liveblog — at international phone extravaganza Mobile World Congress. We’re getting our first glimpse at the hotly tipped quad-core phone’s 5.1-inch, 1080p screen, KitKat software, fingerprint and heart rate sensors, and waterproof exterior.
After some back and forth, Samsung UK has confirmed the Galaxy S5 will go on sale in the UK — and 149 other countries — on 11 April.
EE is the first network to confirm to CNET that it will sell the S5, including 4G contracts, and I imagine the rest will follow suit post-haste. Yep, Three and Vodafone too.
Carphone Warehouse is the first shop to confirm it will sell the S5, but it’s pretty much a no-brainer that every retailer from the smallest seafront lollypop stand to the swankiest department store will sell it. In fact, you can pre-register with Phones 4U — hopefully by the time you read this that link will be live.
So UK-specific details are thin on the ground, but we’re chasing down the networks and shops as you read this to find out everything you — yes you — need to know.

Update: Confirmed UK release date with Samsung.
