The S5 could be about to get active. A new leak appears to show a sporting spin-off of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in action.
Videos posted online by TK Tech News purport to show an AT&T — the US network — version of the S5 Active, alleged to be a follow-up to last year’s rugged version of the S4. The Galaxy S4 Active is a reinforced, waterproof, splash-proof phone for sporting types, designed to be taken out on adrenaline-pumping, danger-laced extreme activities like swimming, snowboarding and music festivals.
The alleged Active sports the same buttons as the previous Active, to allow you to fiddle with your phone while submerged as the touchscreen doesn’t work underwater. Unlike the S4 Active, which boasted an LCD screen, the leaked phone has a Super AMOLED screen with crisp 1080p detail.
Under the rugged exterior is reported to be a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and a 15.9-megapixel camera.

If this is a real S5 Active and not an elaborate hoax, it hints at spin-offs for the S5 just like the Galaxy S4 . As well as the S4 Active, spin-offs for last year’s phone include the camera-focused S4 Zoom and sawn-off S4 Mini .
Recent rumours also suggest Samsung has a souped-up speedster called the Galaxy S5 Prime in the works, reported to offer dizzying download speeds of up to 225 megabits per second — three times faster than the maximum speed of conventional LTE 4G.
