Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and S4 Mini in new leaks and pictures

The Samsung Galaxy S4 family is set to explode, and new pictures and clues have emerged about the hotly tipped Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Mini spin-off smart phones.

Samsung hasn’t made an official announcement about any of the rumoured spin-offs to the S4, but hints are popping up all over the show in leaked photos and listings for the purported new phones.

First up is the rumoured S4 Mini. Last year’s mini version of the S3, the S3 Mini, kicked off the whole spin-off saga. And a Chinese phone fan going by the name of PunkPanda has now snapped several pictures of what is claimed to be the S4 Mini.

The Mini is set to be a smaller 4.3-inch version of the S4, with sadly stripped-down specs — a dual-core 1.6GHz processor and 8-megapixel camera — but, fingers crossed, similarly cut-down price.

Zooming in next month is the Galaxy Zoom, a purported camera-tastic take on the S4 with a 16-megapixel camera, up from the S4’s 13-megapixel job. It’s also reported to have an actual optical zoom lens, but we’ll believe that when we see it. Whatever the details, the phone’s alleged model number — SM-C1010 — has appeared in the listings of the Bluetooth SIG, the body that manages Bluetooth.

And on the subject of the S4 itself, it appears a new colour is on the cards. Japanese network NTT Docomo has hinted at a new Blue Arctic hue, to join the existing Black Mist and White Frost versions.

Other S4 siblings include the Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ, a waterproof version. The Activ and Mini are expected in mid-July, after the Zoom shows up in June.
