The Samsung Galaxy S4 is a week away, and Samung is dropping hints with billboards in New York’s famous Times Square. But what can we learn about the hotly-anticipated Android smart phone from these latest teasers?
First off, the poster is split between black and white. That tallies with previous rumours that the S4 would arrive in just black and white tones, ditching the blue of the Galaxy S3.
And the big number 4 suggests that Samsung is dropping the Roman numerals see in the official name of the Galaxy SII and SIII, although like most of the world we’ve always used S2 and S3 because, well it just makes more sense.
We’re glad the phone isn’t called the SIV, because then it would be the Samsung Galaxy Sieve. Although Samsung has worse names in mind: Galaxy Metrix, Velvet and Galaxy Thunder are all registered by the Korean company.
Other S4 rumours and leaks include purported benchmarks that suggest monster speeds from the new phone.
Samsung’s first teaser was released this week: a baffling video featuring a young whippersnapper of a phone fan getting excited about the S4. The finished article will be unveiled in NYC next Thursday, and we’ll be there — so keep it CNET for the first news, previews and videos.
