Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update now on O2 and Vodafone

Vodafone and O2 phone fans are the latest to see their Samsung Galaxy S3 update to Jelly Bean, with only Orange and T-Mobile customers still left out in the cold.

O2 suffered a delay after promising the update on Friday, but by this morning the update began to appear on O2 customers’ S3s. Meanwhile, Vodafone customers got the update as promised, reporting on Vodaforums that they have updated their S3 and are enjoying the fruits of Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google’s Android software.

Vodafone’s over the air wireless update is being staggered, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see the notification just yet. If you’re impatient to get Jelly Beaned up and don’t mind messing about with wires, you can plug your S3 into your computer and use Samsung’s Kies software to get the update the old-fashioned way.

Three was the first network to update the S3 last week. With O2 and Vodafone now updating customers, that leaves Orange and T-Mobile yet to offer the update.

T-Mobile told us it’s “working closely with Samsung” to bring out the update “as soon as possible”, but can’t tell us whether we’re talking hours, days or weeks. Orange has yet to offer any comment.

Smaller networks Tesco Mobile and Virgin Media are also yet to offer a date, and Samsung hasn’t confirmed when the update will be available for unlocked phones. If you are still out in the cold, here’s how to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on your S3 now — with a bit of tinkering, of course.

If you are on Orange or T-Mobile and absolutely cannot wait to get an S3 with Jelly bean on board, you could switch to the new EE 4G network that launches this week. The special 4G-enabled version of the S3, the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, has Jelly Bean on board from day one.

Which network are you with? Have you updated, or are you happy with your S3 just the way it is? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.
