Samsung Galaxy S2 HD is a super

Samsung will soon launch a new version of its brilliant Galaxy S2 Android phone. The Samsung Galaxy S2 HD will pack a 4.7-inch display and a 1.5GHz processor.

The bad news? At the moment, this souped-up smart phone is only coming to Samsung’s native land of South Korea.

The S2 HD was announced alongside another new version of the S2 that has a 1.5GHz processor and 4.5-inch screen, with both phones packing LTE tech that makes them 4G-compatible.

We don’t get 4G in the UK, just rubbish old 3G, so these particular versions won’t be coming to our green and pleasant land. Normally, we don’t report on phones that won’t come to the UK, but we’re making an exception in this case, because we reckon Samsung could well bring a 3G version of the S2 HD over here in the future.

We certainly wouldn’t complain, because this monolithic mobile has a display with a resolution of 1,280×720 pixels, which makes it a high-definition mobile. That beats the iPhone 4‘s 960×640-pixel screen. With an ‘HD Super AMOLED’ display, we suspect the S2 HD will look blindingly good.

The S2 HD is 9.5mm thick, which is about a millimetre thicker than the Galaxy S2. It also packs a 1,850mAh battery, which is bigger than the S2’s 1,650mAh offering.

In short then, the Galaxy S2 HD is like the Galaxy S2 but bigger and faster. We’re not sure we can handle mobile telephony that potent this early in the week, but, Samsung, if you’re reading, we desperately want to see this mobile hitting the UK.

The existing S2 is proving a fair old success meanwhile, having recently passed the 10 million sales milestone.

Do you want to see the Galaxy S2 HD breaking free and heading to the UK? Then say as much in the comments section below, or on our Facebook wall, and maybe Samsung will take notice.
