Samsung Galaxy S Mini photos leaked

Photos of a Samsung phone that’s rumoured to be the Galaxy S Mini have leaked like a mouldy peach. The images of the S5830 handset were posted by the SamFirmware website, which claims to have received them from an “insider”. It does indeed look a miniature version of the rather delightful Samsung Galaxy S.

Specs are thin on the ground, but the S5830 will apparently run Android 2.2 Froyo and offer Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. It’s also expected to have a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash, as well as a microSD card slot, micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Leaked images (see below) of another Samsung phone, the S5570, have also appeared on the Samsung Hub blog. Apparently this phone will be known as the ‘Galaxy Mini’, as opposed to ‘Galaxy S Mini’. Having two phones with such similar monikers seems bonkers, even by the preposterous naming conventions of technology firms, so we’re soaking in a steaming-hot bath of scepticism for the time being.

The S5570 is alleged to also run Android 2.2, smeared with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. It’s thought to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a microSD card slot and a 240×320-pixel screen. It sounds and looks like a budget offering, so we’ll wager this isn’t going to be the miniature successor to the Samsung Galaxy S.

The phones are expected to be shown at Mobile World Congress, which will take place in Barcelona — such a beautiful horizon — from 14 to 17 February. We’ll be covering the show like margarine on toast, so stayed tuned for some more concrete details soon.
